Here are a few old blog posts condensed into one from our time spent living in Ohio again while in transition from Chicago to Korea.

Breakfast with a Side of Breakfast

After we got married, we quickly realized the need for Steve-sized kitchen gear and Marie-sized kitchen gear.  Not only does Steve eat significantly more due to his impressive metabolism, but he cannot enjoy eating without the proper utensils.  The bigger the spoons and forks, the better.  And don’t even get me started on sporks.

Now that we’re staying with my parents before our move abroad, finding the right setup for every meal is a challenge I find pretty funny.  These little Italian people utensils just aren’t cutting it.  Case in point – our first morning here, my mom’s mixing bowl became his cereal bowl.

I know I grew up in Small Town America, but…

Since when did Sheetz become the local late-night hangout and the pharmacist at the supermarket start wearing a bandana and a cowboy hat?

Nature’s Candy

Aside from Tom Hamilton calling the Tribe game on fuzzy AM radio, there is one thing that can immediately transport me back to childhood.  Ice cold cherry tomatoes.

We grew them every summer, along with a plethora of other veggies.  We kept them in a bowl at the front of the refrigerator to snack on like candy all summer long.

The garden’s a little smaller, but my dad still grows them every year.  I picked these babies this morning.  They’re going right in the fridge in the same old school seventies tupperware for snackin’ when they’re good and ready.
