As I close in on uploading all the blogs from my old site to WordPress, this is the one where I changed my focus from everything Korean and travel to include my little cooking channel.  Looking back, I gotta say I held on to these resolutions tightly this year.  It was indeed the year of my best self thus far.  I hope anyone reading this had a wonderful 2012 and here’s to a 2013 that is even better!

Happy New Year!  2012, the year the world ends!  Or so they say.  Just in case those Mayans were right, let’s go out with a bang, whaddya say?

I don’t know about you, but there’s so much I want to accomplish in the new year that I hope 365 days…wait 366 days…will be enough to do it.  I’m not even calling them resolutions.  They’re just goals, flat-out goals.  Steve and I both want to make 2012 the year of our best selves yet.  Studying languages, living healthfully, traveling to new places, and being creative, positive people.

Personally, I’ll be working on both Korean and Italian.  The former is to make life here easier, and the latter is to, with the grace of God, finally meet some of my family in Italy for the very first time.

I’ll be returning to some former eating habits – less meat, starting with an all-vegetarian January.  Not sure if I’ll ever consider myself a 100% vegetarian.  But after getting thoroughly fed up with eating mystery meat around here and biting into things that make me think, “What the hell is that?  Fat?  Bone?  A tooth?  Gross!” I’ll probably be pretty darn close.  I’ve been hovering around the vegan-vegetarian end of the nutrition spectrum for a long time anyway, but I put a lot of that on hold for the sake of saying yes to every new experience in Asia.  I’m glad I took that attitude, but it’s just time to change again.  Besides, healthy eating is the focus of my new YouTube show anyway, which leads me to…

Creativity.  I really like doing this YouTube thing.  It lets me play with my food and then mess around with video editing, which is what I studied in college after all.  Who knows, maybe it will catch on.  I’ve realized after 2 years in Korea, there’s only so much I can write about living here.  I will continue to do so here and there, but I’m changing the focus of my site to include my new videos and recipes.  Please check back often and click the “Recipes” tab above!

So, all this leads to a better me, I hope.  I just want to be a healthy, happy person who always shows gratitude for the life I live and the people I’m blessed to call family and friends.

May you have a healthy and prosperous New Year!
